About Programme

The aim of the Pre-School Teacher Program is to train teachers who can prepare a program in line with their developmental needs and needs, include the family in educational programs, focus on the individual needs of the students and develop a program to eliminate these needs. The importance of pre-school education in Istanbul and throughout our country is increasing steadily. It is aimed to train qualified teachers who will answer this need with the Pre-School Teacher Program. During the undergraduate education, our students will prepare for the teaching profession with the educational curriculum that we have planned in accordance with the requirements of dynamic life. Our students will be able to teach in official and private schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education as Preschool Teachers, and they will be able to continue their post graduate education both at home and abroad. In this way, our graduates will be able to work as academicians or experts in related departments, institutes and research centers.

History

Founded in 2016, it was opened as Preschool Teaching Programme within the Department of Basic Education within the Faculty of Education. The academic staff consists of 4 lecturers, 1 lecturer, and 1 research assistant. In the program, which accepts students starting from the 2016-2017 academic year, students are given a four-year undergraduate education consisting of field education and teaching profession knowledge and skills. Teaching profession training practices will be carried out in kindergartens determined by the Directorates of National Education within the framework of the cooperation between the Ministry of National Education and YÖK.

Admission Requirements

Candidates must have a high school or equivalent school diploma and must have obtained enough points from the verbal score type from the University Student Selection Examination.

Higher Grade Transition

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can take undergraduate programs on condition that they must take a valid score from the ALES exam and have sufficient foreign language knowledge.

Graduation Requirements

To successfully complete the program, you must pass all courses in the curriculum (equivalent to 240 ECTS), achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00, and successfully complete the Teaching Practice (Internship) courses.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Our apprentices are employed as preschool teachers and administrators in private or state primary schools or in independent kindergartens. Nevertheless, the students are working as teachers in the higher education institutions and as specialist teachers in the kindergartens by making graduate and doctoral degrees in pre-school education science or other science branches accepting students from this area. This program is assigned by the Ministry of Education as a pre-school teacher in case the graduates get the required score from KPSS.

Assessment and Grading

It is necessary that at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the applications should be continued for each student to enroll in classes at the beginning of the semester and to be able to take the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam and a final exam for each course. In general, the grade of achievement is 50%, the contribution of the final exam is 50%, and the midterm exam (grades obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz etc. can be taken as an intermediate exam grade). All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students must have a minimum of 40 points in the final exam and a minimum of 50 points in the average of the courses in order to be successful. Students who take one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are deemed to have completed that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for a student to achieve a grade of DC or DD grade, a GPA of at least 2.0 is required.
