About Programme
| The aim of the undergraduate program of Guidance and Psychological Counseling is to equip the counselor trainees with the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes required for the field of psychological counseling and guidance. People who graduate from this program are expected to have ethical values and principles of the profession; and follow the developments of the profession. They also are expected to have investigating, quationing, critical thinking skills, and cope with the problems they face as professional counselors. | |

History
|
The Guidance and Psychological Counseling program is one of the three departments of the Faculty of Education, which was established in 2016. One year of English preparation (preferred) and four years of undergraduate education are given.

Qualification Awarded
|
Students who have successfully completed the Psychological Counseling and Guidance program are entitled to receive the title of "Bachelor Degree" and "Psychological Counselor / School Counselor".

Admission Requirements
|
Persons must at least hold high school diplomas. Candidates are admitted to the program through national examination(s) held by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
|
Higher Grade Transition
|
Students who have successfully completed undergraduate education in Guidance and Psychological Counseling will continue their education in the framework of regulations and rules determined by YÖK and related higher education institutions.
|
Graduation Requirements
|
In order to be able to obtain a bachelor's degree from the Guidance and Psychological Counseling program, it is necessary to register and enroll in elective courses within the 4-year curriculum together with all the required courses, and to succeed in the exams of these courses. At the end of four years of study, the student must have taken at least 240 ECTS credits. Moreover successfully complete the Teaching Practice (Internship) courses.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Psychological Counselor / Guidance Our students who will graduate with the title of teacher will be able to work in public and private schools, public institutions and private institutions, hospitals, Child Protection Institution, nursing homes, nurseries and kindergartens, Ministry of Justice, Rehabilitation centers, centers that perform psycho-technical evaluations, forensic medicine institutions, advertising companies and so on. They can also carry out post-graduate education both at home and abroad. In this way, our graduates will be able to work as academicians or experts in related departments, institutes and research centers.

Assessment and Grading
|
Exam evaluation rules are based on "Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Associate Degree and Bachelor's Degree Training Regulation". Different measurement tools such as midterm, final, quiz, presentation, homework, project, portfolio, application can be included in this process to be indicated in the information form by the content of the presented course and by the relevant teaching staff. The effect rate of these measurement process on success grade can range from 40% to 60%. Success grade is determined based on midterm work and final grade. An excuse examination is applied for students who have a valid excuse accepted by the relevant board of the faculty.
