About Programme
Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf Üniversitesi, Sanat Tasarım ve Mimarlık Fakültesi bünyesinde açılan “Kültür Varlıklarını Koruma ve Onarım Bölümü”, hem taşınır hem de taşınmaz kültür varlıklarının korunması alanında eğitim verecek dört yıllık bir lisans programıdır.
Bölümün temel çalışma alanları; taşınır kültür varlıklarını, sanat eserlerinin ve taşınmaz kültür varlıklarının belgelenmesi, bunları tehdit eden mevcut ve muhtemel yıpratıcı etmenleri, bozulmaları teşhis ederek uygun koruma ve onarım (konservasyon ve restorasyon) yöntemlerinin belirlenmesi ve uygulanmasıdır.

History
|
The Department of Preservation and Repair of Cultural Heritage was established in 2021 and has been offering undergraduate education since its foundation.

Qualification Awarded
|
Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Preservation and Repair of Cultural Heritage.
|
Admission Requirements
|
Students are admitted to the Undergraduate Program in Preservation and Repair of Cultural Heritage based on the results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), using the Equal Weight (EA) score type.
|
Higher Grade Transition
|
Students who successfully complete this program may apply for admission to graduate programs in related fields.

Graduation Requirements
|
In order to qualify for graduation, students must successfully complete all required and elective courses specified in the curriculum, accumulate a minimum of 240 ECTS credits, achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00, and fulfill their mandatory internship requirements within the designated duration and conditions.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Graduates of The Department of Preservation and Repair of Cultural Heritage can pursue careers as conservators and restorers in museums, libraries, archives, conservation and restoration laboratories, archaeological excavations, architectural conservation and restoration sites, as well as in architectural offices and construction firms specializing in conservation projects. They may also be employed by private collectors and cultural institutions, or continue their careers in academic and research positions within related departments at universities.

Assessment and Grading
Students are required to take a final examination that is administered independently of the midterm exams or other assessment activities conducted throughout the semester. Each academic term includes at least one midterm examination, and, at the discretion of the instructor, unannounced short quizzes may also be given.
The assessment criteria for each course—such as midterm exams, quizzes, assignments, projects, practical studies, and the final examination—as well as their respective weightings in the final grade, are specified in the course syllabus distributed to students at the beginning of the semester or published on the department’s official website.
