The Biomedical Device Technology Programme at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University was established in the 2025-2026 academic year to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of healthcare technologies. The programme adopts a multidisciplinary educational approach that integrates modern medical device technologies, engineering principles, and the ethical foundations of healthcare services. It continues to develop rapidly through the university’s strong academic infrastructure, industry collaborations, and practice-oriented laboratory facilities.

Qualification Awarded
|
Students who successfully complete this programme are awarded the “Associate Degree in Biomedical Device Technology.” The programme provides applied vocational education designed to equip students with technical competence, communication ability, and strong ethical and safety awareness for professional practice in healthcare institutions.

Admission Requirements
|
Students are admitted to the programme based on the Exam for Higher Education Institutions (YKS), using scores from the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT). Admission and placement are carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Applicants must hold a high school diploma or an equivalent secondary education certificate. Lateral transfers, vertical transfers, and special student admissions are conducted in compliance with the regulations of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the internal regulations of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University (FSMVU).

Higher Grade Transition
|
Graduates of the Biomedical Device Technology Associate Degree Programme may continue their studies at the undergraduate level through successful completion of the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). Eligible undergraduate programmes include Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and other related fields.

Graduation Requirements
|
In order to graduate, students must successfully complete all courses in the curriculum, earning a total of 120 ECTS credits, and must achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00. Students are also required to successfully complete their compulsory internship as well as all laboratory, practice, and project components. Fulfilment of attendance requirements and adherence to ethical and institutional regulations are mandatory for graduation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Graduates of the Biomedical Device Technology Programme can work as Biomedical Device Technicians in public or private hospitals, medical centers, dialysis units, laboratories, and companies involved in the production, maintenance, or calibration of medical devices. They may also find employment in sales, technical support, and quality control departments of medical technology firms. In addition, graduates have opportunities to work in the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), the Ministry of Health, private medical companies, calibration laboratories, and R&D centers. The rapidly growing healthcare technology sector offers a wide range of employment prospects both nationally and internationally.

Assessment and Grading
|
Each course includes midterm exams, assignments, projects, or practical evaluations in addition to a final exam. Grades are assigned on a letter-based scale (AA–FF). For laboratory, practice, and internship courses, attendance, performance, and report assessments are also taken into account.
